MERAPI DISASTER

Merapi No Longer Scary 

Mount Merapi, which was originally feared by many people due to eruption in October and November 2010, now no longer feared. Many visitors from different regions came to see the damage caused Merapi eruption directly.

Post-reduction in alert status becomes idle, regions of the point of disaster is now crowded with visitors. They want to see the damage caused by strokes and heat clouds Merapi eruption directly. As the destruction of forests, houses destroyed, trees uprooted and burned, and the remaining volcanic material in the form of sand, stones, and mud.

Hundreds and even thousands of visitors come at the disaster site every day. Some local favorite is the Kinahrejo where Mbah Marijan was death, Kali Kuning, Kali Adem, Kali Gendol, and Kopeng area that is now dissolved. The situation there is very tragic, just the smell of sulfur and volcanic materials mixed carcass was sting, even hot due to the blast of hot clouds were still very pronounced.

Local residents who are victims of disaster, taking advantage of this situation, they asked for donations at each entrance to the disaster site. Some of them set prices ranging from Rp.5000,00 to 10,000,00, but most of them ask for voluntary donations. To restore their economic condition, they plan to make tourism program called "Lava Tour". There, tourists will be treated to a variety of local arts and provided dirt bike, other than that they were invited to help re-green the area by planting trees.
